Crack The Sky-Raw

John Palumbo, the writer and singer of the band left after their second album, later rejoined and they put out a couple of records before the band broke up again. In 1986 he released a Crack The Sky album featuring only him and a guitar player named Jamie LaRitz. Similar to earlier Crack The Sky records, it is pretty basic with no frills and to me misses the lead guitar work of Rick Witkowski and Jim Griffiths as I am not thrilled with the playing of Mr. LaRitz. Bass and drums played by Palumbo sound digital although the back of the cover says no synthesizers,no keyboards,no digital processing, and no celebrity background singers. My favorite songs are “Boilermaker”,a tribute to hard working steel workers, and “Raw” the title track. The band got back together a few years later with most of the original members, last putting out a record in 2018. I have not heard any of their music since this record.
