Various Artists-Further More

Feeling in the mood for some Grateful Dead type music again. This 1997 CD features recordings from the 1996 Further festival in New Jersey as well as other locations and 2 studio cuts. Bruce Hornsby. who played keyboards for the Grateful Dead on their last tours plays “I Know You Rider” with an introduction from “Terrapin Station” and “Rainbow’s Cadillac” his own song. Studio recordings are from The Black Crowes with a studio outtake “Somebody’ s On Your Case” and one from Arlo Guthrie sounding more like Bob Dylan to me. Moe plays “Moth” and Mickey Hart plays a drum duo with Zakir Hussain called “Fast Sailing”. Bob Weir and Ratdog plays the Grateful Dead’s “Cassidy” with Bob Wasserman playing a bass solo intro of “St. Stephen. The highlights of this CD are a jam session, from the ’96 festival, featuring Bob Weir , Jorma Kaukonen, and members of Los Lobos and Bruce Hornsby playing a killer “All Along The Watchtower” and “Proud Mary>Not Fade Away”. This looks to be a CD cutout with a notch in the CD case. Probably was only 5 or 6 dollars.
