His Name Is Alive-Stars On E.S.P.

A band from the Detroit area, leader Warren Defever has been the only constant member. This is release number four. I had their first two on cassette and their next one Ft. Lake on CD. Karin Oliver takes most of the vocals on this CD. Mark Kozelek of Red House Painters is involved somehow, his is credited as a co-writer on “Across The Street”. Most of the song titles have a second shorter name. The music is Indie, Pop, Dream Pop, and Rock. I recognized the second track “This World Is Not My Home” also called “Home”. I must have put that one on one of my cassette mix tapes. It’s the most Rock sounding track on the CD. There are two more versions of this song “I Can’t Live In This World Anymore” also called “Home” and the final track “Last One” with the song being sung by a large group of people. “Universal Frequencies” also called “Beech Boys” sounds like a Beach Boys song. The songs follow very closely behind each other with no space between.
