Frogwings-Croakin’ At Toads

A one-off live recording by a Jam Band Supergroup. Butch Trucks and his nephew Derek Trucks were from The Allman Brothers, John Popper was from Blues Traveller, The Burbridge brothers’ Kofi and Oteil and Jimmy Herring were in The Aquarium Rescue Unit. Percussionist Marc Quinones was also in The Allman Brothers. After this short tour these musicians later played in The Tedeschi Trucks band, Widespread Panic, Dead and Co. and Phil Lesh & Friends. Some great Jams on here with the interplay of Herring’s guitar and Derek Trucks slide guitar. “Kickin’ Bach” has long drum and hand percussion soloing by Butch Trucks and Marc Quinones. John Popper provides the vocals and harmonica playing a Blues Traveller song “Pattern”. I guess “Ganja” is my favorite withy more guitar and harmonica soloing. I have listened to this CD quite a few times. This was recorded at Toads Place in New Haven, Ct. in 2000. They disbanded after a short tour.
