Neil Finn is from New Zealand. He and brother Tim were in the bans Split Enz, active from the early 70’s until 1984. He formed Crowded House after that. That band broke up in ’96. This was recorded in Aukland New Zealand in August of 2001. Neil has some great musicians inn this band. Ed O’Brien and Phil Selway from Radiohead. Johnny Marr from the Smiths, Lisa Germano, Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder, and brother Tim. Playing songs from Split Enz, Crowded House and solo material, many guests play one of their own songs. Vedder plays a Pearl Jam song “Parting Ways” and lead vocals on two other Neil Finn songs. Lisa Germano, who started out playing with John Mellencamp sings one of her songs. Johnny Marr does one of his songs then plays guitar on The Smiths “There Is a Light That Never Goes Out” with Neil doing his best Morrissey. Brother Tim sings a duet with Neil “Angles Heap” sounding like Simon and Garfunkel. They close the CD with two Crowded House songs “Weather With You” and the wonderful “Don’t Dream It’s Over”. Another CD I have never listened to and am glad I did tonight.
