Brian Eno’s third album after leaving Roxy Music. I had the original vinyl of his first and a CD of his second but they were sold. A 2004 reissue and remaster of this 1975 release on CD. This is a transition record between his instrumental ambient work and his earlier Art-Pop songs. Only five of the 14 tracks have vocals with 8 tracks featuring Eno himself playing guitar, piano, organ, synthesizers and other electronic devices. Other ttracks feature Phil Collins on drums and his bandmate from Brand X Percy Jones on bass. Robert Fripp plays guitar on three tracks most noticeably on ” St. Elmo’s Fire” my favorite on the CD. Some of the short instrumentals are pastoral and soothing. Highly acclaimed by music critics. I too think it is a good recording.
