Tanya Donelly-This Hungry Life

Tanya Donelly had been in Throwing Muses with half sister Kristin Hersh leaving the band in ’91. She formed The Breeders with Kelly Deal of The Pixies but left after their first record forming her own band Belly. after ending that band she went solo in ’96. This CD was recorded live at a closed hotel in Vermont that had a small club still open. in 2004. Mainly an acoustic set she has fellow New Englanders backing her up. Husband Dean Fisher, from Julianna Hatfield’s band, played guitar with Joan Wasser, who records as Joan as Police Woman played violin and Bill Janovitz of Buffalo Tom added vocals. There is also a pedal steel guitar player and upright bass. The music is pretty mellow and sounds good. I especially like “Long Long Long, the George Harrison song from The Beatles White Album, with some tasty violin by Wasser.
