XTC-English Settlement

This is easily their best record. The fifth from this English band, it’s a two record set released in 1982. I bought the U.S. version around that time. It had ten of the 15 songs on a single record. I loved every song on the record. At some point I sold it and bought this 2019 reissue of the original two record album. The music and singing from leaders Andy Partridge and Colin Moulding is rather quirky and whimsical with some great hooks and different styles of music. Of the five left off the U.S. version the best are “Knuckle Down” and “Yacht Dance”. So many great songs on this record, “Runaways”, “Senses Working Overtime”, “English Roundabout”, “Jason And The Argonauts”, “It’s Nearly Africa”, and “Ball And Chain” just to name a few. This being a newer reissue of course it doesn’t sound that great with a couple skips. Would like to find another ’82 U.S. version, I’m sure it sounds better.
