This is their third album and the last to feature the original line-up.Caravan,along with Soft Machine were part of the Canterbury Scene,musicians who played a keyboard heavy Progressive music with Jazz leanings. This record came out in 1971 and is one of my essential records. I first heard the 22 minute “Nine Feet Underground” in 1973 or 1974 late at night on FM radio and fell in love with it. Largely instrumental, it is dominated by David Sinclair”s fuzz-toned keyboards. I consider this one of the best side long Progressive works. Side one has the whimsical “In The Land Of Grey And Pink”,”Golf Girl” a song about a members girlfriend,and “Winter Wine” that starts out as an acoustic folk song then has a great keyboard solo in the middle.”Love to Love You(And Tonight Pigs Will Fly)” was a minor hit in the U.K. Probably one of my most played albums it has one skip on side two. This record continues to sell and has never been out of print.
