U.F.O.-Phenomenon

Original

After Mick Bolton left the band he was replaced with Michael Schenker. Gone were the long Psychedelic jams in favor of a more commercial Hard Rock sound. The first of their records released in the U.S., this came out in 1974 and that’s when I bought it. Don’t know if I had heard of U.F.O. back then but I liked the cover by Hipgnosis which is taken from an actual photograph that is on the back cover. This is my favorite U.F.O. album. “Doctor Doctor” was released as a single and is a live favorite of the band. Schenker plays a couple nice solos on “Rock Bottom” and “Queen Of The Deep”. Future albums keep his soloing to a minimum. “Crystal Light” and “Space Child” are two good mellower and slower songs. Side two has a cover of Willie Dixon’s “Built For Comfort”. Although the cover is almost split in half the record still sounds pretty good.
