Pat Travers Band-Crash And Burn

This is a great record with their big hit “Snortin’ Whiskey” on side one. The title track was also released as a single and I heard it on the radio at that time. There is a blistering cover of “Born Under A Bad Sign” that closes side one. Side two starts with a cover of Bob Marley’s “Is This Love” and is followed by an instrumental “The Big Event” where Pat Travers plays some keyboards. The final two songs “Love Will Make You Strong” and “Material Eyes” are a little more laid back but still very good. I had three or four more records of theirs but this and the live one are the only ones I kept. I did manage to see Pat Travers at a small venue in Wyomissing about 15 years ago. This came out in April 1980. Still living on Pyle St and hanging out with Jeff and the two girls but my records and stereo were at my friends mothers house. They had moved from the apartment to a house in New Castle. On May 18 I moved out of there and went to stay at my Aunts house in West Pittston, Pa where my brother’s ex girlfriend was also staying. I know the date because it was the day Mt. Saint Helens erupted. After about six weeks there I retuned to stay at my parents house for a bit. Meanwhile my friend and her sister and mother had moved to a trailer park in lower Delaware with the mother’s lover taking my records and stereo with them. Sometime in August Jeff and I drove down there to get my records and stereo. Although my drivers license had been suspended in 1978 I still drove various cars all that time. This one was an early 70’s Mercury four door that I had spray painted black with a white racing stripe around the trunk. After retuning I immediately moved into a three bedroom apartment in Claymont with the brothers I had shared an apartment with in 1978 when I first moved out of my parents house. In September I met a girl who would become my wife. She ended up moving in with me at the apartment. In early 1981 I joined the Columbia House Record Club and this was one of the free records I chose. In April of ’81 we moved to Havre de Grace Md. where I worked at my fist shipyard. This record is one I remember playing many times in the third floor efficiency apartment we lived in.
