Three Dog Night-Captured Live At The Forum

Original

Three Don Night were basically a cover band with three singers who harmonized well together and a decent band with drums, bass, guitar, and keyboards. This is their third album which came out in 1969. Another one of my very first records it is one of the ones I got when I joined the Columbia House Record Club in 1971 with my sister. They had a lot of hits in the early 70’s and were one of my favorite bands then as I was still mostly listening to AM Top 40 stations then. There are two songs by Traffic, one by Laura Nyro, a Lennon/ McCartney tune “It’s For You”, “Try A Little Tenderness” best known for Otis Redding’s version, The Band’s “Chest Fever” and Nilson’s “One” their first big hit. I had never heard the original versions of these songs although “Easy To Be Hard” was on a record by the Ray Bloch Singers called “Hair”, songs from the musical that I bought in 1970. “Chest Fever” was probably my favorite with the most rocking sound, when I heard The Band’s original version a couple years later I always thought of that as the cover version. The sound of the concert is not too bad although a little thin sounding. The record itself sounds good , no skips, and was played many times back then.
