Styx-Cornerstone

Another good album from Styx which came out in late 1979. I think was the only record I bought when I was living on Pyle Street in Wilmington. This has the split front cover and the thick silver record sleeve. It has their only number one hit “Babe”, one of my most hated power ballads. “First Time” is another sappy ballad, both written by Dennis DeYoung. “Borrowed Time” and “Eddie” are the only real rockers on the record but “Love In The Midnight” and “Lights” are also good. At this point relations in the band got a little testy as DeYoung wanted to go in a more Pop direction with Shaw and Young wanting to stay more Rock oriented. This ultimately led to their break-up in 1983. Of course there were reunions later on.
