Sonic Youth-The Eternal

This is the final album from Sonic Youth. Released in 2009 the band officially broke up in late 2011 the same time as the separation and divorce of Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon. The record comes with interesting artwork and photos on the front and back covers, the inside of the gatefold cover and both record sleeves. The front cover is called “Sea Monster” by John Fahey the pioneering acoustic guitar player. Bought in 2009 as soon as I saw it in the record store, like their last couple of records this is a Rock album with none of their experimentation. I played side one a couple of times but this is the first time listening to all four sides. I will have to listen to more of this as well as their last two albums, lots of good music om them. “Antenna”,”Poison Arrow” and “Walking Blue” all sounded really good to me. A reunion is unlikely as Kim and Thurston can’t seem to work together anymore.
