Patti Smith-Trampin’

This is one from 2004 that I bought new around that time. Lenny Kaye and Jay Dee Daugherty from her original Patti Smith Group play on this record. I think I only listened to side one of the double album one or twice before. Did not think I would like it much but as it turns out it is pretty good. The two songs on side two “Cartwheels” and “Gandhi” are the best with “Gandhi” keeping up a steady Rock beat throughout the 9 minute song. “Cash” almost sounds like a Pop song while “Radio Baghdad” at over 12 minutes long is a typical Patti Smith song reciting her poetry both spoken and sung. It seems to be about the Iraq war.The last song “Trampin'” is a duet of an old Spiritual song with Patti singing and daughter Jesse playing piano.
