Todd Rundgren-A Wizard,A True Star

Original

Another amazing album from Todd. One I bought in ’73 or ’74 but not one of the initial pressings with the die cut cover. Todd really packs the music on this one with nearly 56 minutes on one record. Side one is a 26 minute suite called “The International Feel”(in 8)”.Divided into 12 short songs that all run together it’s a preview of his new band Utopia with all members of that band playing on this record. From Psychedelica to Progressive to Experemental,to Rock to “Never Never Land” from the Peter Pan musical and everything in between its an extrordinay listen. Side two is more like the Something’Anything? Todd with “Somethimes I Don’t Know How To Feel”,and his great Soul Medley of “I’m So Proud,”Ooh Baby, Baby”,’La La Means I Love You”,and “Cool Jerk”. “Is It My Name” is a Rocker ad the album closs with another one of my favorites by him “Just One Victory”. Another great sounding record despite the long running time which really squeezed the grooves together. Side one sounds fine but side two is pretty scrachy with some some bad spots. Looking to replace this one. Threre have been many re-issues including one on the Music On Vinyl label.
