Todd Rundgren-Something/Anything?

The first album from Upper Darby native Todd Rundgren. Two earlier records were under the name Runt with Hunt and Tony Sales in ’70 and ’71 and produced the hit “We Gotta Get You A Woman”.Before that he was in the Psychedelic Garage Rock band The Nazz. This two record set from 1972 is a great collection of Soulful Pop songs with a couple rockers and a bit of silliness. I borrowed this record from my High School’s record library and made a cassette tape recording of it in 1973. The cassette is long gone but I always loved this record. About 15 years ago I bought this used record. It sounds good and the production is excellent(by Todd of course). Unfortunately it doesn’t have the original record sleeves with photos and the inserts with lyrics and liner notes. On the first three sides Todd plays all the instruments on side four he has some help from Moogy Klingman, who would be in his band Utopia, the Brecker Brothers and Rick Derringer among others. So many great songs on this record, favorites are “I Saw he Ligt”,”It Wouldn’t Have Made Any Difference”,”The Night The Carousol Burned Down”,”Black Maria”,”Couldn’t I Just Tel You”,”Torch Song”,”Hello It’s Me”,a Nazz song, and the last song on the record “Slut”.
