The Rolling Stones-L.A. Forum Live 1975

Now we come to The Rolling Stones,on everyones list of the best bands ever. I agree, but anything after the Some Girls album, while still having some great songs is not as consistant as anything released earlier. Thought I would start with this live album. About ten years ago ,much like The Grateful Dead, the Stones began releasing shows from the vault. This show from June of 1975 is their first tour with new guitarist Ronnie Wood. This three record set is the second release from the series,I don’t know how many there are but I bought three of them ’75,’82,and’90. All come with a DVD of the show. Ian Stewart and Billy Preston add keyboards and Bobby Keys plays sax on this tour. It’s a good set list covering all their records up to that point but only “Get Off My Cloud” from their mid 60’s hits is played. Mick Jaggers vocals can get a little sloppy and hurried at times but the playing is good. They stretch it out on “Midnight Rambler”, with Mick playing some harmonica, and “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” with some great guitar by Ronnie Wood and Keith Richards, both lasting over 15 minutes. They Funk it up a bit with “Fingerprint File” a new song at the time with Billy Preston’s keyboards. “Jumpin’ Jack Flash” also has a long guitar solo. Haven’t watched the DVD yet which has four songs not on the vinyl edition incuding two Billy Preston songs “That’s Life” and his hit “Outa -Space”.
