The Power Station-The Power Station

A mid 80’s band formed by John and Andy Taylor(No relation) of Duran Duran, drummer Tony Thompson from Chic and singer Robert Palmer. Another Taylor ,drummer Roger Taylor(Not Queen’s drummer) added percussion effects. Released in 1985 two singles were made into videos. I can’t listen to “Some Like It Hot” without picturng Robert Plamer with a priests collar singing “Feel The Heat” in the video which was in heavy rotation back then. An Ok version of “Bang A Gong(Get It On)”(you can’t improve on the original) was aso released. With John Taylor’s bass and Thompsons drums up front the band had a funky sound thanks to Bernard Edwards production. Besides thge two singles I also liked “Lonely Tonight” and “Go To Zero” which is on my playlist. “Harvest For The World” is an Isley Brothers song and sounds more like Duran Duran. They actually put out another album in 1996 that I have never seen or heard. Both Palmer and Thompson died in 2003.
