Passport-Infinity Machine

Original

Another record I bought in 1976 when it came out. Passport is a German band led by sax player Klaus Doldinger. They are a Jazz/Rock/Fusion band. This is perhaps their fourth or fifth album and the first one of theirs I bought.Their classic mid 70’s line-up of Doldinger ,Kristian Schultze on keyboards and synthesizer,Curt Cress on drums and Wolfgang Schmid on bass plays on this record. The lead off track is the 10 minute” Ju Ju Man” a Funky dance number with a Disco beat. “Morning Sun” my favorite starts off mellow with some piano before exploding with some Rocking sax by Doldinger. “Blue Aura” is a pure Jazz piece with some mellow sax. ‘Infinity Machine” on side two is Jazz Fusion sounding like Weather Report or Larry Coryell’s Eleventh House. “Ostinato” has a short sax introduction that sounds like “Morning Sun” then keyboards, bass and drums take over for the remainder of the composition. “Contemplation” is another mellow number. I never played this too often back then but in the last five years I have bought five used albums by them.
