Joni Mitchell-Dog Eat Dog

This is from late 1985 and one I bought in 1986 when I was living in Salisbury Maryland. I remember listening to this record one Saturday morning sitting on the front steps of the small house I was renting on Homer St. Another change in direction for her to a more Pop sound using all the new digital technology of the 80’s with drum programming, sampling, and synthesizers. Thomas Dolby played keyboards and did some programming and producing while her new husband Larry Klein played bass. There are three really great songs on this record. The first song on the album “Good Friends” is a duet with Michael McDonald(love his voice) which is followed by “Fiction” , co-written with Klein, and is a catchy tune with prominate keyboards. The last song on side two “Lucky Girl” is another one I like possibly written about her new husband although they divorced in 1994. “Tax Free” another one written with Klein has some Rock guitar in it. “Smokin'(Empty,Try Another)” samples the sound of a cigarette machine(a relic of the past). “Impossible Dreamer” and “The Three Great Stimulants” are also pretty good. There are two pinholes in the gatefold cover,a painting by Joni, so I must have had it hanging on a wall sometime. One of her better records. I had two of her pre Blue records and three other newer albums but they were sold in 2013. One of my favorite Female artists.
