Joni Mitchell-Blue

I must admit I am a big fan of Joni Mitchell. Not so much her earlier Folky albums but her later Jazz influenced ones. I guess I like her voice and music not so much her lyrics which are mostly about relationships of which she had many. The music is fairly simple with guitar and piano being the instruments used. This is her fourth album from 1971 and considered by many to be one of the best albums of all time. WXPN recently had it in the top five of their top 500 albums when they listed them at the end of last year. It may have been number one,I can’t remember. It’s pretty good but I would not put it anywhere near the top of my 500 best records. Many of the songs were written after relationships with Graham Nash and James Taylor. Anyone who listened to FM Rock radio in the early 70’s has heard most of these songs. “Carey”,”A Case Of You”,”California”,”Blue” and “River”,played a lot at Christmas and a song that always seems to make me feel sad, were played frequently on the radio and songs I was familiar with back then. “This Flight Tonight” was a song I first heard on Nazareth’s album Loud and Proud which I will be listening to sometime in June. This is a used album I bought in the mid 80’s. Not in the best of shape.
