The Marshall Tucker Band-Dedicated

In 1980 Tommy Caldwell was involved in a car crash and later died from injuries suffered from it. He was 30 years old. This is their first record after his death from 1981. The ten songs on this record are shorter than usual leaving not much room for the instrumental breaks I like so much from this and. “Love Some” a song written by Tarney and Spencer sounds like a Disco song. “Silverado” written by rhythm guitarist George McCorkle is the best song on the record. “Something’s Missing In My Life”and “Tell The Blues To Take Off The Night” are in the Blues vein. The last song “Ride In Peace” is dedicated to Tommy and younger brother Tim Caldwell who also died in an auto accident a month before Tommy. The band never regained its footing after that. After a few more albums most members left the band leaving only singer Doug Gray and Jerry Eubanks in the band. Doug Gray still leds a version of the band with no other original members to this day. Guitarist and main singwriter Toy Caldwell died in 1993 of cardio-respiratory failure brought on by cocaine use.
