Led Zeppelin-The Song Remains The Same

Original

This is the soundtrack of their movie of the same name. Released in September of 1976 the live recordings re from a three night stint at Madison Square Gardens in 1973. The only official live album from them, there are some amazing performances. “The Song Remains The Same” on side one is very good followed by The Rain Song. Side two is a nearly 27 minute “Dazed And Confused” with all of Pages guitar explorations. “No Quarter” and “Stairway To Heaven” on side three are great. I love Pages solo on “No Quarter” and John Paul Jones’s keyboards. Side four has John Bohnam’s incredible 11 minute drum solo “Moby Dick” and “Whole Lotta Love” with a little old time Rock and Roll in the middle. The cover and records are not in good shape. The records have many visible scratches on them and several skips. The album has been re-issued on CD with an additional 25 minutes of music. Not sure if there is a vinyl edition of it. When I was living in Claymont in the mid eighties and working at the shipyard in Chester on second shift me and a co-worker who also lived in Claymont would go to his apartment after work for a little partying. Inevitably we would end up watching the movie which he had on a VCR tape. We must have watched it at least ten times. Although the concert was in New York some scenes were shot in Pittsburgh and Baltimore.
