Led Zeppelin-Physical Graffiti

Original

This came out in 1975 when I bought it.It was the first release on their own Swan Song label. Hard to pick a favorite Zeppelin album but this is the one I played the most. The double album contains eight songs written and recorded in 1974 and seven older songs from as far back as 1970. Side one has three great songs “Custard Pie”,”The Rover” and “In My Time Of Dying” a traditional Blues/Gospel song with Page playing some slide guitar. “Houses Of The Holy” was supposed to be the title track of that record but for some reason was left off. “Kashmir” is the most recognized song from the album and although it is a great song it was never one of my favorites. Something about the Mid-East flavor of the song I never liked much. Side three has four more great songs “In The Light”,”Bron-Yr-Aur” a nice little acoustic guitar instrumental and “Down By The Seaside” and “Ten Years Gone” two of my favorites. Side our has three Rockers “Night Flight”,”The Wanton Song” and “Sick Again” plus the acoustic “Black Country Woman”. “Boogie With Stew” with Rolling Stone pianist Ian Stewart is a 50’s style song. The die cut cover had photos on the record sleeves that could be placed in the cover showing different people in the windows. The cover and record are in good shape considering how much it has been played. No skips and very little scrachiness. Some of the edges of the “windows” on the cover are bent but that always happens with die cut covers unless you keep your records in plastic covers which I never did.
