Elton John-Tumbleweed Connection

This is his third album from 1970. A collection of Country and Western styled songs and one I always liked. Many of the songs were played on FM radio and I first heard them around 1971 or 1972. Songs like “Burn Down The Mission”,”Amoreena”,and “Ballad Of A Well Known Gun” were played quite often on WMMR. “Where To Now St. Peter ?” was one I really liked and one on one of my early mix tapes I recorded off the radio with the microphone between the headphones. The opening line always brings back memories of that time. “Love Song” one of the only songs not written by Elton and Bernie Taupin on an Elton John record was another one I liked. That was written by Leslie Duncan who also sang backup vocals on some of the songs. Rod Stewart covered “Country Comfort” on his second album around the same time. Another record I checked out from our schools record library. This is a re-issue I bought sometime,I don’t remember when. It has a 1980 copyright date on it.
