Japan-Oil On Canvass

Japan is an English Synth/Pop band. This record is from 1983 and is said to be live but does not say so on the album or liner notes. There is some applause after each song but it’s very quiet and the music just dosen’t sound live. Not sure when I bought this two record set or what I paid for it but it does have 399 written in ball point pen in the bottom corner. The cover and record are in very good shape. I listened to side one about five years ago and I liked it. I like the rest of the album too. Heavy on the synthesizers there is a little guitar here and there. Singer David Sylvian has a very Bryan Ferry sound to his vocals. Songs are from their five albums from the late 70’s early 80’s. The band broke up when this album was released. “Voices Raised In Welcome,Hands Held in Prayer” is a nice instrumental with Sylvian playing keyboards and drummer Steve Jansen playing marimba. Altogether a good record I will listen to again.
