Ian & Sylvia were a folk duo from Canada.About twenty years ago I bough Two Ian & Sylvia CD’s at Borders. About five years ago looking through used records at a small record store I found both of the titles,so of course I had to buy them. This is their fourth release from 1965. It’s a collection of covers, traditional songs and originals. They cover two Gordon Lightfoot songs the title track and “For Lovin’ Me”,both were on The Best Of Peter,Paul and Mary album, which was the first record I ever bought. They also cover a Johnny Cash song “Come In Stranger”. Sylvia Fricker has a great voice and harmonizes well with Ian Tyson’s deeper voice. “Awake You Drowsy Sleepers” and “I’ll Bid My Heart Be Still”, sung A Capella by Sylvia, are two Traditional songs. The record closes with “Song For Canada” a song about tensions between French speaking Canadians and English speaking ones. It’s a really good folk record and one I paid $12 for. It seems to be an original pressing from 1965 making it the oldest record I have. The record and cover are in like new condition, probably kept in plasic slip covers like many collectors do. The owners name is written on the back of both records.
