Humble Pie-Humble Pie

This self titled album is their third from 1970. A more hard rocking record than their previous two. One song written by each member of the band, three group efforts and a cover of Willie Dixon’s “I’m Ready”. Both sides of the record are great with lots of guitar work by Frampton. Side one opens with “Live With Me” a heavy number with organ and guitar followed by Jerry Shirley’s Country sounding “Only A Roach”. “One Eyed Trouser Snake Rumba” another Rocker is next and the side closes with Frampton’s “Earth And Water Song” is a mostly acoustic song sounding like his later solo work. Side two although not as good in my opinion starts with “I’m Ready” then “See You Later Liquidator” a Marriott song about Immediate Records(their former record company that went bankrupt),”Red Light Mama,Red Hot” and “Sucking On The Sweet Vine” a Greg Ridley Song. This is a used record I bought sometime in the mid 80’s originally a gatefold this version has the famous painting Hope by George Fredric Watts from 1886 on the back cover.
