Hall & Oates-Along The Red Ledge

This is from 1978 and another recent purchase for a dollar. Apparently someones Christmas present from 1978 as that is written on the record sleeve. Side one starts off with “It’s a Laugh” a single that did OK. “Melody For A Memory” is another good song. “I Don’t Want To Lose You” was another single that didn’t reach the top 40 and has a Disco sound to it. “Have I Been Away Too Long” has Todd Rundgren playing guitar and has that Philly Soul sound to it with John Hall’s falsetto singing but I think he takes it a little too far. Side two has two out of character songs I don’t like but “Don’t Blame It n Love” is a song I had heard before and also has a very Todd Rundgren sound to it, in fact I though it was one of his songs. “Serious Music” is another song I liked. Again first time listening to this record. According to the liner notes besides Rundgren they also have George Harrison,Rick Nielsen, and Robert Fripp helping out. After this record they really hit the big time with hits I never really liked “Maneater”,”No Can Do”, and “Private Eye” that got way overplayed.
