Gong-You

Part three of The Radio Gnome Invisible trilogy. Again this is the ’85 re-issue from Portugal with a different cover than the original. Like the first part this is mostly instrumental.Steve Hillage plays some mean guitar on “Master Builder” and “A Sprinkling Of Clouds” sounds like Tangerine Dream with synthesizers by Tim Blake(Hi T. Moonweed) who later joined Hawkwind. The whole trilogy is quite good, all three of these used records I have are not in the best shape, scratchy sounding on the quiet parts but no skips. All three records have been released a few years go in a box set which I will probably buy if I see it.The two I have on Charley records are inferior to the originals with no liner notes or lyrics. Allen and Smith left the band in 1975 but the band continued on without them. Smith formed Mother Gong and Allen Planet Gong before returning to Gong in 1990. Since then they have put out two more records dealing with Zero the Hero, the protagonist from the trilogy, and played in many festivals with many different players. Daevid Allen died in 2015 and his partner Gilli Smyth a year later.
