Golden Earring-To The Hilt

Original

This one came out in 1976. They take a step back to a more progressive sound with four tracks over 7 minutes leaving room for instrumental breaks and fadeouts. I never liked this as much as their last two records but listening to it now it sounds pretty good.”Facedancer” is a rare acoustic song and “Nomad” has some weirdness in it. “Sleepwalking” and “Latin Lightning” have a Funky sound to them, the later even sounding a bit Discoish.”Violins” has a long string fadeout arranged by Robert Van Stips. Bertus Borgers plays sax on a couple of numbers, the Bobby Keys of Golden Earring, to keep the Rolling Stones comparison going. This records sounds really good as it wasn’t played as much as some of their other ones.
