This record from 1970 is the first without Peter Green. Now just Danny Kirwan,Jeremy Spencer,Mick Fleetwood, and John McVie. Christine McVie,though not an official member, did contribute backing vocals and piano and did the cover art for the album. The record is split between Spencer’s songs and Kirwan’s with three covers. “Hi Ho Silver” is a song also covered by Foghat under the name “Honey Hush” and “Buddy’s Song” is a tribute to him written by his mother Ella Holley and played in his style. “Mission Bell” is a cover of an early 60’s hit. Spencer’s songs are in his usual 50’s style, but the three best songs are Danny Kirwans. “Station Man”,”Jeweled-Eyed Judy”and “Tell Me All The Things You Do” are all great songs, the later showing he is no slouch on guitar.I bought this used sometime in the late 80’s or early 90’s,another one with water damage from the Franklin St. rental. The record has one skip on the last song on the record “Mission Bell”.The gatefold cover by Christine McVie is another one I had hanging on my wall at some time.
