Electric Light Orchestra-Out Of The Blue

This double album is from 1977 and is their most ambitious album to date. Another big seller the record spawned five singles. My brother had this record and a “friend” who was staying at our house for a while and sharing my bedroom had a cassette of this album and he would play it almost every night. I have heard these songs many, many of times. That being said I like most of the songs, they are produced by Jeff Lynn, some would say overproduced, and every song is packed with strings, special effects, background vocals, and Lynn’s falsetto vocals sounding much like The Bee Gees. Some of the lyrics are pretty sappy and some like “Across The Border” and “Jungle”are annoying. Side three Concerto For A Rainy Day has four linked songs that are all good although “Mr. Blue Sky” was overplayed on the radio. I bought a used copy of this record about 15 years ago but one of the records was warped so I trashed it when I moved from Mohton to West Lawn in 2016. That year I bought a new re-issue.
