In 2002 Jason Isbell joined the band with his girlfriend and later wife Shonna Tucker to play bass. Adding another songwriter to the band already with two writers with their own songs meant only two or three songs per record.I owned the next two records on CD Decoration Day and The Dirty South from 2003 and 2004. I also had A Blessing And A Curse On CD but all my Drive-By-Truckers CDs were sold in 2013.This record came out in 2006,I bought this vinyl copy in 2015. Another great record it is more straight Rock than the Southern Rock of their earlier records. Side one is full of great songs like Hood’s “Feb.14th”,”Aftermath”,and the sad”Goodbye” and Jason Isbell’s “Easy On Yourself”. Side two is just as good with another sad song by Hood “Little Bonnie” and closes with his “A Blessing And A Curse” that goes into the last song “A World Of Hurt”, an emotional song to see performed live. Perhaps my favorite song on the album is Cooley’s “Space City” an acoustic song about lost love. Jason Isbell left for a solo carer after this but Shonna Tucker stayed in the band. The two were later divorced.
