Dirty Projectors-Bitte Orca

This delightfully quirky record came out in 2009.I bought this knowing nothing about the band but after hearing “Stillness Is The Move” on the radio I thought I would give it a try. For a while it was my go to record to listen to after getting off work and “unwinding”. I always played side one and never listened to side two. Every song on side one is great with lots of abrupt stops and then going off in another direction. Songs like “Temecula Sunrise” are so strange you just have to love it.There are male and female vocals, although the two women, pictured on the cover, are no longer in the band having left for solo work. There are lots of synthesizer and bass beats and some acoustic and electric guitar here and there. Side two is more of the same but I only like the first two tracks as much as any on side one. This was the bands fifth album and they have put out three more since this one. David Longstreth is the mainstay of the band with many people coming and going to support him.
