Miles Davis-In A Silent Way

This record from 1969 is considered his first foray into the electric Jazz/Rock music he would make for the next five years. May consider this to be one of his best recordings. The album consists of two side long pieces divided into two sections. The music is generally quiet especially on side ones “Shhh/Peaceful”. There is plenty of electric piano and organ by Herbie Hancock,Chick Corea, and Joe Zawinul. Guitarist John McLaughlin plays on side two’s “In A Silent Way/It’s About That Time” but does not solo. In fact there are few solo’s on the record, most of it being an ensemble work. Many of the musicians on this record soon had their own Jazz Fusion bands,Corea in Return To Forever,Shorter and Zawinul in Weather Report and McLaughlin in Mahavishnu Orchestra. This record is a digitally remastered reissue I bought used in 2017. There are plenty of used copies of his 50’s recordings on the Prestige label to be found in record stores but anything from the 60’s and 70’s is hard to find. I would love to find a used copy of Bitches Brew or Live/Evil .
