Midnight Oil-Redneck Wonderland

Midnight Oil are from Sydney, Australia and formed in the late 70’s. Always quite political singer Peter Garrett served in Australia’s government for a while. I first saw the band play “Power And The Passion” on TV show Thike Of The Night in 1983 with singer Peter Garrett doing a spastic dance and someone playing the didgeridoo. Of course I threw in a VCR tape and recorded it but I threw away all my VCR tapes a while ago. Bought their record Red Sails In The Sunset in 1984 and four others after that as well as 2 or 3 cassettes but were all sold in 2013. I have 3 CDs, this is from 1998. The same line-up as their first release although bassist “Bones” Hillman left for ten years. First time listening to this one, there are some heavier riffs and some electronics not present in their earlier music. “Cemetery In My Mind” sounds like it’s from the 60’s while “Comfortable Place on The Couch” was another one I liked. The rest are OK, not crazy about this new style.
