This is a re-release of their 1985 recording Fear And Whisky, originally released on the Sin Records label of Brixton. 9 other songs from that time period are added to this new CD on Minneapolis’s Twin/Tone Records. Their fourth release this is a bit of a departure from the early Punk Rock sound of this Leeds band. I had a couple of their cassettes but no records. I have six CDs of theirs. This was always my favorite, the others I’m not too familiar with, I have the feeling I didn’t care for them. This CD is filled with Country and Alt Country tunes. Lots of fiddle by Suzie Honeyman. Two great songs “Chivalry” and “Last Dance” are on my playlist. “Trouble Down South” and “Darkness And Doubt” are also good. 4 songs, including 2 of the bonus tracks feature narration backed by music “Psycho Cupid (Danceband On The Edge Of Time)” being the most interesting. There are two covers “Lost Highway” an old Country song and the Gram Parsons song $1000 Wedding. Really like this CD and have played it quite a few times. I will listen to two or three of their other CDs I have and see if If my opinion of them changes.
