Pretty ambitious for a four year anniversary but there are 20 songs on each of these 5 CDs. This comes with an 80 page booklet with the history of the label, photos and discography with pictures of their first 99 releases. This box set is number 100. There is one track from 88 of their 99 releases the other 12 being unreleased tracks and songs from 7″ vinyl releases. This label carries Punk, Hardcore, Shoegaze. Metal, Pop and Ska with many of the artists playing Christian or Spiritual music. I decided to listen to discs 3 and 5. Disc 3. The first track by Velour 100 “Flourish” has a Dream Pop sound. Havalina Rail Co. plays a Jazz number with some scat vocals (not a fan) called “Paper Moon”. Sounds familiar, maybe from the movie? Stavesacre more of a Grunge band that I have 2 CDs of plays a short song called “Trainwreck”. The Supertones who I saw at the Creation Festival plays a mix of Ska and Rap on “Adonai. Songs by Plankeye, Sal Paradise and MxPx are very good and will go on my playlist. Disc 5 I didn’t like as much, too many Punk/Metal songs with screaming or growling vocals. The best on this disc was “Next Time Around” by Starflyer 59 with a Shoegaze sound.
