Various Artists-For A Decade Of Sin

11 years of music from Bloodshot Records. They specialize in Country. Bluegrass. Alt-Country, Cowpunk and Country Rock. This is a 2 CD set with 42 tracks. Comes with a booklet with an article about the company, another one from Chicago, photos and liner notes. I listened to disc 1. Looking at the liner notes there are many familiar names. ” De-Railed”, a song by Rainer Ptacek who I also have a tribute CD of, is played by Sixteen Horsepower. Perhaps I will listen to that CD. Ralph Stanley. an early Bluegrass pioneer plays “Little Glass Of Wine” a song written by his brother. Bobby Bare Jr., who opened up for one of the Drive=By Truckers shows I saw, covers “Ocean Size” by Jane’s Addiction. Matt Mays offers “The Plan” a more rocking song. I will me listening to one of his CDs when I get back to the M’s. “Little White Pills” is a good Cowpunk siong by The Meat Purveyors. Carla Bozulich of The Geraldine Fibbers plays a song called “Lonesome Roads”. The Minus 5 featuring Scott McCaughey, of Young Fresh Fellows and Peter Buck of R.E.M. play a song by John Langford of The Mekons. Sally Timms, also of The Mekons, covers a song by Bob Nolan, a member of The Sons Of The Pioneers, an Early Country and Western band founded in the ’30,s. Also on this Cd are songs by Graham Parker, Richard Buckner and The Yahoos featuring Dan Baird of The Georgia Satellites, covering the Gamble & Huff song “Love Train”. An interesting collection. Disc 2 looks to be also. Maybe sometime.
