This 1997 CD features bands from the Boston area, most I have never heard of. All these tracks stray pretty far from the originals. Ranging in style from Broadway Musical to Country Rock to Stoner Rock I found these all very interesting. The CD starts of with Eddie Van Halen’s guitar solo “Eruption” played on a church organ. “Jamie’s Crying” is in a Tehano style while “Romeo Delight” is Heavy Metal. Mary Lou Lord, someone I have a CD by makes “Jump” sound a bit like “Sweet Jane”. “Everybody Wants Some” is Dream Pop and one I liked best. “Why Can’t This Be Love”, the only song from the Sammy Hagar era, is done in an Indie style by Gigolo Ants. “Panama” features a 7 piece brass band and “Little guitars” employs a 3 piece string section. “Beautiful Girls” gets a Funky Hip-Hop treatment. “Take Your Whisky Home” is Stoner Rock by a band called Honkeyball. The CD closes with “Eruption” again played on what sounds like a banjo. It just goes to show if it’s a good song it’s good in any style.
