Various Artists-Goth Oddity

Another tribute CD from Cleopatra Records which is based in the L.A. area. I actually have three David Bowie tribute CDs. Bowie has been loved by Gothic bands ever since Gothic pioneers Bauhaus covered “Ziggy Stardust” in 1982. This one features Gothic bands. Nothing too unusual here most are pretty close to the originals. I liked the first track “After All” by The Mission (The Mission U.K. in the states) and the last track “Cat People (Putting Out Fire)” by Big Electric Cat. Nosferatu’s low Gothic style singing sounds odd on “Starman”. Alien Sex Fiend is a perfect fit to cover “All The Madmen. I had a couple of their CDs, they are a strange band. Other Gothic bands contributing that I am familiar with are Christian Death, Corpus Delicti, Ex-Voto and Kommunity FK. Looks like this had a vinyl release with a different cover.
