Various Artists-Alligator Records 30th Anniversary Collection

A Blues label founded in 1971. I had their 20th anniversary collection on cassette as well as many other artists on the label, but all my cassettes were sold on 2013. This 2 disc CD has one disc of studio recordings and one of live recordings. I listened to the live CD. 13 tracks all good Blues. These were recorded in the 80’s and 90’s at Blues festivals and clubs around the country many in Chicago, the home of Alligator Records. I really liked “Two Headed Man” by Lonnie Brooks. “I’ll Take You Back” by Little Charlie and the Nightcats and “Stop” by Lonnie Mack with some great guitar. The final track is by Hound Dog Taylor recorded in 1972. He was the first artist signed to the label. The only one that seems out of place is C.J. Chenier’s Zydeco version of a Hank Williams song “Jambalaya (On The Bayou)”.
