As I did with my vinyl records I will listen to some various artists CDs after listening to my L’s. Most of these are tribute CDs of which I have about 50. Most of the others are box sets from record labels with songs from their artists, many some kind of anniversary compilation. I have about 15 or 20 of them. I will pick about 25 and listen to them. This first one is a 2 CD box set of a tribute to Black Tape For A Blue Girl. They are a band that plays Gothic, Darkwave, Ethereal, and Dark Ambient music. I had their first eight releases on CD but they were all sold in 2013. I found this used set at the store that was in the Exeter Promenade about 20 years ago. It comes with the 2 CDs, five postcards with photos, band information. lyrics and an order form for CDs and cassettes on the Project label. Black Tape’s leader Sam Rosenthal is also the founder of Project Records. Don’t remember ever listening to this set so I decided to put on disc one. I had some of the releases from these bands involved in this tribute, all on the Project label. CDs from Love Lies Crushing, Love Spirals Downward, Lycia, Thantos and Soul Whirling Somewhere were all sold in 2013. While lyrics are included several are instrumentals including a 12 minute “Of These Reminders” by Stay Frightened. All 12 tracks on disc 1 are Ethereal, Atmospheric and ghostly, making for a soothing listen. Of the 22 tracks on these CDs only one, “Sky Blue Rooms” is on my 45 minute Best Of Black Tape For a Blue Girl cassette I made in 2001.
