A box set that came out in 2004. One that survived the 2013 sell-off. There are 3 CDs and 1 DVD. These are B-sides and songs from various artists recordings and unreleased tracks. Comes with a 30 page booklet with photos and commentary about each of the 56 songs on here. I have never listened to this before so I decided to listen to disc 3. There are 13 covers on these CDs, 9 on disc 3. Some like “I Remember” and “Blue-Eyed Devil”, a Soul Coughing cover, could be called Dream Pop with their use of synthesizers. The give the Low treatment of songs by Dylan, The Smiths, John Denver and The Beach Boys “Surfer Girl”, recorded live “somewhere in Belgium” with Alan Sparhawk trying to explain surfing to them. A cover of Journey’s “Open Arms” is pretty faithful to the original. “Fearless” is a Pink Floyd cover. Interestingly I heard the original played at the grocery store today. The final track on disc 3 “Shots & Ladders” was another one I really like. Their last album was from 2021. Mimi Parker died in 2022 from cancer.
