Jade Warrior-Elements

This two CD set includers the four albums released on Island Records in the 70’s. This came out in 1995. I remember looking at the first two Floating World and Waves with their Japanese motif covers in the mid 70’s and wondered what they sounded like. I decided not to buy them. These two albums are on the first CD which I listened to. They are a duo of Jon Field and Tony Duhig. In the 60’s they were in a band called July that played Psychedelic Pop. I had that CD but it was sold in 2013. The music could be called World Music, New Age or Ambient although those names were not used then. No vocals the music is lush, gentle, pastoral and relaxing. Waves is one long piece divided between the two album sides. This has Steve Winwood playing some keyboards. The first ten minutes of part 2 is the most upbeat part with Tony’s brother David playing electric guitar. Pleasant to listen to but not very exciting. I bought a used copy of their first record from 1970. This was more Progressive but it had only one song I liked which I put on one of my cassette tapes and sold the record.
