Dave Holland-Selected Recordings

Englishman Dave Holland is a Jazz bass player. This is X in the ECM :rarum collection. As usual these tracks were selected by Dave Holland himself and feature him as a leader in trios, quartets, and quintets. “Inception” is a solo cello piece by Holland. “Equality” has Cassandra Wilson singing lyrics by Maya Angelou. “How’s Never” by his Gateway Trio is Jazz Rock with John Abercrombie playing some mean electric guitar. Other ones I liked were “Shifting Sands” and “Prime Directive”. “Conference Of The Birds” is the title track of his first release on ECM from 1972. Another very good CD in this series. Somehow I managed to buy all 20 in this series all at Borders, I believe, although I had to special order some of them. I put them up for sale in 2013 for $200 but had no offers. Glad I was able to keep them.
