High Tide was formed by guitarist Tony Hill and violin and keyboard player Simon House. Hill had originally been in American Psychedelic pioneers The Misunderstood. Relocating to England the American members were deported leaving only Englishman Hill. He and House plus a drummer and bassist formed this Progressive band in 1969. This is their second release from 1970. This CD is a 2006 reissue from the U.K. Originally only 32 minutes long with three tracks this reissue adds four more. Lots of great jamming with guitar and violin. The best are the two longest tracks “Saneonymous” at 14 minutes and the 15 minute bonus track “The Great Universal Protection Racket” Two bonus tracks are alternate versions of “Blankman Cries Again” and “The Joke” the fourth bonus track “Ice Age” is the last song they recorded before breaking up after their drummer suffered a nervous collapse and was hospitalized. House joined Hawkwind in ’73. In the late 70’s Hill and House made a third album Interesting Times. A recording od demos Precious Cargo was released in 1989 which I have on vinyl.
