The Future Sound Of London-Dead Cities

This came out in 1996 and is one of three CDs I have by them, one an EP of tracks from their Lifeforms release that I had on cassette, the other is a live recording ISDN. They are a duo from England consisting of Gary Cobain and Brian Dougans. They are into electronic music and sampling. This is a 70 minute piece that flows seamlessly from one track to another,13 in all. These range from Industrial to techno to ambient and everything in between. The first four tracks are rather harsh, more Industrial sounding. By track 5 “Everyone In The World Is Doing Something Without Me” it changes to a more atmospheric sound with ambient electronics and a sampled female voice. This mood is kept up for the next two tracks with more female voice sampling and some guitar sampling from Ozric Tentacles on track 6 “My Kingdom” and piano sampled from Max Richter on “Max” track 7 until the middle of track 8 “Antique Toy” where it gets a little harsh again. Track 11 “Yage” gets mellow again with flute samples and ethnic percussion. The last two tracks return to a more Industrial sound. A really good listen with many moods and sounds.
